The Chef

Chef Marcellino Verzino was born on his family’s farm in the Campania region of Italy. After the passing of his Mamma Carmela, he began cooking for his family at the young age of eleven and his roots are steeped in all facets of food and wine with a profound understanding of their origins. As a young man of 20 he opened restaurants in summer vacation spots in various regions of Italy then his own Bar/Bistro in Roma. He met his wife, Sima in Roma and two years later they moved to NYC where Chef Marcellino partnered with new restaurants for 7 years. He and Sima have now been in Scottsdale for 12 years. His becoming a Chef was not a choice. Chef believes it was his destiny. “It is my honor to have guests embrace and love who I am and what I create for them,” states Chef Marcellino.

Chef Marcellino has been awarded the highly coveted “Award of Excellence” from the New York Times, “Honorary Recognition” for his outstanding contribution to the James Beard Foundation, the Best New Chef, Best Italian Restaurant, Best Hand Crafted Pasta and the distinguished 5 Stars Award by the Arizona Republic.

SIMA VERZINO

After taking a long haitus to work with her husband in creating Marcellino Ristorante, Sima Verzino has returned to the love and passion of her musical talents and will be performing at the restaurant with outstanding musicians accompanying her. Great jazz influence with driving, funky R&B rhythms is Sima’s signature sound.
